چکیده

Abstract In this work, we report a radio galaxy with precessing jets, double-peaked emission lines and the presence of two compact components projected separation ?6 parsec in very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations. The emission-line peak separations could be suggesting supermassive binary black hole (BBH) 6.3 parsec, matching VLBI results. kinematic jet precession model applied to jets J1328+2752 indicates that if it is BBH, accretion disk primary not coplanar system orbit, making its precess under effect torque produced by secondary hole. However, find Bardeen–Petterson can also provide timescales compatible period inferred source. This source has previously been identified as restarted double–double (DDRG). Our findings therefore have important ramifications for nature DDRGs general.

Stagnation Knots in Precessing Jets

The problem of the formation of a stagnation knot in the head of a precessing stellar jet is investigated from both an analytical and numerical point of view. This dense structure is formed via a similar method to that proposed by Steffen (these proceedings) for the formation of FLIERS in planetary nebulae. Initial results suggest that the formation of a stagnation knot is possibly an intrinsic...

Active Galactic Nuclei with Double-peaked Narrow Lines: Are They Dual Agns?

Double-peaked [O III] profiles in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) may provide evidence for the existence of dual AGNs, but a good diagnostic for selecting them is currently lacking. Starting from ∼ 7000 active galaxies in SDSS DR7, we assemble a sample of 87 type 2 AGNs with double-peaked [O III] profiles. The nuclear obscuration in the type 2 AGNs allows us to determine redshifts of host galaxie...

Millimeter VLBI and Variability in AGN Jets

Millimeter-VLBI images probe as deep as never before the nuclei of AGN. VLBI at 147GHz yields transatlantic fringes for the first time. Now we can begin to study the relation between jet kinematics and spectral activity with a few ten micro-arcsecond resolution. 1. Present Status of 3mm-VLBI The main advantage of VLBI observations at short millimeter wavelengths (mmVLBI) is the very high angula...

Linear polarization and composition of VLBI jets

It is shown that linear polarization data can be used to constrain the composition (normal or pair plasma) of pc-scale extragalactic jets. A simple criterion, based on synchrotron and Faraday depolarization properties, is established. It does not depend on the particle density and the length of the emitting region along the line of sight, thus eliminating two physical unknowns.

Bubbles in Planetary Nebulae and Clusters of Galaxies: Precessing Jets

I derive the condition for narrow jets with varying axis, e.g., precessing jets, to inflate more or less spherical (fat) bubbles in planetary nebulae and clusters of galaxies. This work follows a previous work dealing with wide jets, i.e., having a wide opening angle. The expressions derive here are qualitatively and quantitatively similar to the conditions for inflating fat bubbles by non-prec...
